Hello, beloved readers, and welcome to another rambling improvised creature feature where I collect and babble about whatever monsters, zoocephali, or other fictionalities are occupying real estate in my head this month.
Recently I put together a collection of some creatures and artwork from the world of first-generation D&D that I like. I'm hugely fond of the 70s and 80s books (particularly the monster manuals, which I used to read obsessively,) but also found some cool stuff from the early 1990s AOL games recently.
I also got this cool, kinda relevant poster at a thrift
store (tried cleaning up the design digitally from a photo):
Apparently it's been kicking around in the world since 1994. Neat.
Also I guess Thoth is just the mascot of this site now.
Him being the god of knowledge & writing (and the moon)
and me being a datahoarder (also a big fan of the moon)
seems to work out nicely. (I still can't get over Θώθ though,
the universe is mocking me.)
Fun fact, kid I had a fear of the Egyptian god Set. I even
avoided people with the name Seth for a while. I'm over it
now and I gotta admit that the fact that his totemic animal
doesn't seem to actually exist is endlessly fascinating to me.
That might be it for now; will add if I think of anything else.
