	Édouard-Léon Scott de Martinville's Phonautograph Recordings (1853 - 1860) The collected (surviving) works of Léon Scott, a French inventor who experimented with recording sound via visual markings (akin to a spectrogram.) They were unable to be played back at the time, but in the 2000s were successfully digitized into audible files. I suggest you read more as to how the technology worked and how we're listening to it now, but regardless, hearing a recognizable human voice through such an abyss of time is surreal.

A fully-produced, fully-concieved song can be overwhelming sometimes, and I often stick to bootleg comps of acoustic takes and tape demos. Current 93 doesn't exactly have that, but they do have a soundcheck from a 1999 show with Michael Cashmore working his ambient magic - lo-fi and unofficially recorded, but sometimes just what I need.
