DEPTHS OF THE NET is an perpetual work-in-progress project
with the intention of posting obscure music every day from all over the musical
sphere that I encounter on my endless safari through the wide world of web,
for two years and counting!
If you own any of this and want me to change or remove it I gladly will,
and though might take me a while to get to them suggestions are also appreciated. And now for something completely different!

Genre: Plunderphonics
You know it's good when 3/4 links on the site have broken over the twenty years

It's lolicore but breaks sharply from the OPs-with-amen/kicks/noise formula many

In the world of HNW edginess and filthy aesthetics are more common than not.
Even in themed HNW, it's rare to find a project as bright and unique as this one.
Beyond the covers and aesthetics, it eschews blasted-out bass and full-on distortion:
if HNW is pavement, this is more like soft fabric.

Four delicate explorations of ambient sounds, mixing in some trap influences

It's another field recording kind of day and an opportunity to show off a cool

Genre: Pop Punk
Seven sub-minute pop punk bursts of emo-infused energy. It's over before you know
it but spends it's runtime throwing in idea after idea just to show what it can do.
Very '08.

February 2nd, 2022 - more ?sugar - 5 Year: 2017
Label: functional
Genre: Nightcore
It's like if someone sifted through a generic EDM remix channel,
isolated the best moments, cut out all the filler, and pushed
saccharine electronic pop to it's purest form. Nightcore understandably
gets mocked a lot but it can be done well in capable hands, as seen here.
Download it here.
A soulseek find that seems to be a microcollection of the two
available tracks of an anonymous breakcore musician who hasn't been
heard of since 2018 to my knowledge. The first one is a manic reizokore
with tons of energy and the other has a wonderful emo feeling. Wish I knew
a bit more but I guess that's the point.

Another release from my /mu/ sharethread archives. I don't really know
anything about it besides the metadata and some research isn't turning
up many answers, but maybe it's best to take it as is, like a sleeveless

January 30th, 2022 - Various - Yay 4 Cuteness Year: 2006
Label: Valiant Death
Genre: Twee
A great demonstration of what twee is and can be. So many
different sounds in here it hardly seems contained in one genre.
Acapella silliness, happiness and sorrow, lofi songs that border on
punk, acoustic guitars, and all manners of perspectives on
a single whole.

Abyssal droning ambient with a touch of slushwave sound mingled
in. As dark as it is relaxing, but if you get too comfy you might
crushed by the water pressure down there.

January 28th, 2022 - Tinyfolk - Thirty-Six Cat Songs by Tinyfolk Year: 2006
Label: Bunch of Beatniks Riding a Rocket
Genre: Twee, lofi
Very excited to post this because I've been looking for it for
a year and only now found the files. A plethora of very short,
silly cat-themed tweeish songs and the cutest album I know.
The artist was only just learning guitar when making it and that
only makes it more perfect.

Label: OCRemix
Genre: VGM, chiptune, etc.
For those (like me) who didn't know, OCRemix is a site dedicated
to celebrating video game music, and these are the ReMixes and tribute
songs formerly hosted there that were taken off for extensive sampling
or at the artist's request. Fun fact, the earliest Lapfox songs are buried
in here, as well as who knows what else.

Label: None
Genre: Choral
Can you tell I'm out of ideas? Anyway, it's a neat discovery
in the depths of bandcamp, reuploaded slice of recent-ish history
that makes me wonder where these people are now, and this tape goes
bad at one point and goes all tape music on us if that's more your speed.
January 25th, 2022 - furumoon - ruminations on the nature of daylight Year: 2021
Label: None
Genre: Depressive breakcore
Beautiful orchestral breakcore with all the hope-in-hopelessness feelings
from it's titular "Nature Of Daylight" sample. Explores tons of different
territory from more hardcore and noisy to ambient and intricate, picks
up right where goreshit's semantic compositions left off.

I don't know much about this. The bandcamp page linked in the metadata
is gone and I didn't download anything else. The title says it all;
comfy meandering synth melodies following a peaceful cat. Soundtrack for
feline still-lives.

January 20th, 2022 - Hyperbloom - This Isn't Even Real Year: 2020
Label: None
Genre: Ambient, sound collage, ???
(I was split about posting this for fear of violating the lost-media
reputaton that's surrounded it (I had to message someone to even get a copy
of it) but I'll remove it at the artist's request.) More widely known as
Heaven's Emperor, Hyperbloom collages together samples from all over the internet
into bleak representations of isolation and terminal onlineness. I can't say
anything this person hasn't said better, basically. Hyperbloom
kicks it up a notch - if Heaven's Emperor is a downward spiral, Hyperbloom is
the crash landing. With samples from (presumably?) monologuing internet users,
a fighting couple, and a livestreamed suicide, it's not recommended for everyone
but does a masterful job of capturing mental rock bottom.

January 19th, 2022 - Dj Bamberino - Straight Edge Miku Raged At Komugi For Getting Her Contact High Year: 2022
Label: Sam Likes Not Just One Cock In His Mouth Records
Genre: Mashcore
I haven't even heard of this artist before now but they're here now and
hopefully here to stay. Split second pop references, vocaloid and Reizoko
CJ shoutouts, and all the lightspeed break/kick/sample chopping a mashcore
album could need along with some more coherent but no less intense hardcore
tracks. Also, two CDs as of writing this. Time is ticking.

I'm aware most computergaze is very Infinity Frequencies influenced
and this project is certainly in that style, but the idea of isolating
and repurposing forgotten snippets of televised media into frigid-sounding
uncanny / comfy loops definitely deserves to be explored. I wish I knew how
they found these samples and covers.

A Goodwill homemade CD I picked up. Just look at that digiart cover,
right off the bat. I don't know enough about this kind of music to

tunes in a piano/classical and new age style. Wish I knew more about it,
but the mystique's part of the appeal, I guess.

Bomzh-grind is a grindcore subgenre that seemed to exist exclusively among
Russian teenagers in the late 2000s and now survives only on sketchy looking
download links and homemade sites (which I now
realize I unconciously ripped off when making this Neocities.) This release
seems to be typical of the style: several second bursts of mostly accapella
noisecore with almost no instruments, recorded on a flipphone by the sounds of it.

Genre: Signalwave
Sorry for the back-to-back vaporposting. This release drops the stretching

of curating a collection of incidental TV sounds, sign-ins and sign-offs and
interludes, and presenting them as music in their own right.

Genre: Nightcore
One of the least well-known side projects of vaporwave pioneer Internet
