The concept seems to have popped up purely via convergent evolution in various dark abysses of the internet from 2008 onward (with no more than tiny 
clusters of affiliated musicians forming, no actual "scene" or even awareness from artists that anyone else is or was doing something similar.) Something
of a mutually-influenced and mutually-aware scene seems to have formed in 2024 though, seemingly sparked by COCKxMAULER and centered on Bandcamp.
